All Countries that lie below 35 degrees North latitude have a low mortality rate. Above 35 degrees North there is insufficient sunlight for adequate Vitamin D levels during half the year.

Vitamin D is produced by sunlight absorption (UVB) in the skin. This is impaired as people age, darker skin, obesity, and hypertension which are also factors in increased mortality from COVID-19.
